Generous Contribution to the Clubhouse Stash

A member of our card-making group who is a Florida "snowbird" has donated her supply of card-making materials to the common stash of the group.  We keep these stamps, ink pads, punches, die cuts, a Big Shot, a heat tool, cardstock, and other goodies in the lower level of our community clubhouse for all to use or borrow.

Here are some of the items donated:

some basic punches, including a rounder.

 stamp sets

and sentiment stamps

a variety of ink stamp pads and clear blocks

neutral card stock, white envelope and card sets
and bright cardstock

and some other "goodies"
that will fill our boxes and bins.

A special thanks to Sharon for her contribution.
We hope she joins us in the summer for some card-making
and comraderie, too.

Super Girl Capes

My granddaughter wanted a super hero cape. A boy at her preschool told her a girl could not be a super hero. She wanted her cape to be red.  I happened to have a lot of red fabric from curtains I used to make a stage in my elementary school library reading amphitheater.  I found some tissue lame to line the capes at Colchester Mills Fabrics in Colchester.  The older one had a gold lame lining and the little one was lined with silver lame.

I found a great pattern online at Thread Riding Hood.
The sizes were very accurate.  The cape sits on their shoulder and
doesn't interfere with their arm actions.
The light polyester red and the tissue-thin lame
are perfect for "whooshing".

We called the little one Ultra Violet
and the big one Infra-Red
although she says her name is Super Lily!

These took very little time and material to make
and will give them hours of power!

January 2017 Cards

Not everyone could join us, but Bonnie was able to unpack her supplies and bring this lovely, intricate card.

She embossed the kraft card stock layer with a small flower stamp.
The two large pink flowers are one of my favorites of her collection.
The pink and kraft paper with an accent of green is just perfect!

I brought two Valentine kits.
One was a version of a clothesline--Hang out your heart!  ??
Fun and easy. The embossed background is clouds.
Not sure the clothespin can be mailed...

This one is more mail-worthy.
The card top is partially embossed with swirls.
The cut out heart was added inside.
The xoxo was die cut and the whole top card elevated from the card base.
Just simple and easy to mail to your sweetheart in February.

Sue and Carol will return next month with more designs
in their signature styles.
Nice way to spend a very cold afternoon in January.

Starting Out 2017 with a Variety of Card Needs

Well, now I worked on a "Thinking of You" card with the seasonal greens theme.

It makes a handsome card for a man ready to
come home from a month in rehab.

And then I switched gears to a new baby card.

A third girl in the family, all in four years!
The grandmother is a long-time friend of mine from high school.
I had a great time doing this one--for a change from sympathy cards.
Three more of those to go...

New Year 2017

Starting the New Year with a clean-up of my craft room!  Then a couple cards to design and craft for events and thank yous.  Unfortunately, I started with a sympathy card and need to make a few more.

I enjoyed using the Tim Holtz die cuts of greenery but
had a difficult time with matching paper/cardstock to
the type of greenery die.  Much experimentation!

I used the same dies to make a thank you note.
Still seasonal but the glitz and hoopla is toned down!

I also have a new baby girl card to make.
I'll post it later after I finish the seasonal theme on two get well cards,
more sympathy and thank you cards.
