Super Girl Capes

My granddaughter wanted a super hero cape. A boy at her preschool told her a girl could not be a super hero. She wanted her cape to be red.  I happened to have a lot of red fabric from curtains I used to make a stage in my elementary school library reading amphitheater.  I found some tissue lame to line the capes at Colchester Mills Fabrics in Colchester.  The older one had a gold lame lining and the little one was lined with silver lame.

I found a great pattern online at Thread Riding Hood.
The sizes were very accurate.  The cape sits on their shoulder and
doesn't interfere with their arm actions.
The light polyester red and the tissue-thin lame
are perfect for "whooshing".

We called the little one Ultra Violet
and the big one Infra-Red
although she says her name is Super Lily!

These took very little time and material to make
and will give them hours of power!
